About this piece

The Pink Reef Earrings are a pair of turquoise metallic frivolité (tatting) lace earrings, each holding a single pink crackle crystal bead at its centre. The motif builds a clover of three interlaced loops that opens like a sprig of coral, and the translucent pink sits exactly where the lacework closes. The contrast between the vivid turquoise and the pink is what makes them the detail people notice first. They work with white linen, with jeans, and with anything that asks for a bit of colour.

Details

Worked in tatting with the ANKARS technique, developed on the base of classic tatting: the knots are pulled tighter and the drop keeps its shape with no inner frame. The thread is turquoise metallic thread, and the pink crackle crystal bead is woven into the knots, not glued on. Silver leverback hook. It is lace — delicate to look at, tougher than it seems and light on the ear. Every piece is one of a kind: hand-knotted, stitch by stitch, so no two come out exactly the same. They measure 5 cm long by 2 cm wide; weight 4 g the pair.

Care

Take them off before the shower or the pool, and keep them away from water. Perfume and cream first, earrings after. Store them in their pouch, resting flat, so the lace doesn't lose its shape.

How do I care for it?

Keep it dry: water, perfume, cream and chlorine loosen the thread and dull the colour. Clean it only with a dry, soft cloth, and store it flat in its pouch, apart from other pieces and away from humidity.

Can I order an identical one?

Not identical: each piece is woven once, and that exact combination of thread, knot and stone is never repeated. We can weave one inspired by it, in your colours and with the stone you choose, as a custom order.
