About this piece

The Night Web Earrings are a pair of large earrings shaped as a round medallion, hand-woven in a night-blue thread so deep it reads as black at first glance. The drawing starts at the centre and opens in concentric rounds of rays and arcs, like a spider's web seen head on, and the edge finishes in a row of picots that softens the outline. Against skin or against hair they give shadow and texture. These are the earrings you put on in the morning and are still right at night.

Details

Hand-woven lace, knotted stitch by stitch, with no beads: the weave and the picots do all the work. The thread is night blue with a faint sheen and the weave is firm, so the disc doesn't curl. Silver French hook. The lace is delicate to look at and tougher than it seems; on the ear you barely feel them. Every piece is one of a kind: hand-knotted, stitch by stitch, so no two come out exactly alike. They measure 7.2 cm long by 5.5 cm wide; weight 4 g the pair.

Care

Keep them away from water and damp. Perfume and cream go on first, the earrings last. Store them flat in their case so the medallion doesn't lose its shape and the picots along the edge don't snag.

How do I care for it?

Keep it dry: water, perfume, cream and chlorine loosen the thread and dull the colour. Clean it only with a dry, soft cloth, and store it flat in its pouch, apart from other pieces and away from humidity.

Can I order an identical one?

Not identical: each piece is woven once, and that exact combination of thread, knot and stone is never repeated. We can weave one inspired by it, in your colours and with the stone you choose, as a custom order.
