Night Sky Earrings

The Night Sky Earrings are a pair of drop earrings in black frivolité (tatting) lace with night-blue faceted crystals. The motif is a diamond-shaped rosette: four clusters of picot rings opening out from the centre and finishing in a point at the bottom, with a larger ring at the top that hooks onto the finding. At the heart of each earring sits a round deep-blue bead with tiny gold flecks inside, like a sky full of stars; around it, some ten metallic-blue crystals catch the light. These are the earrings that read black from across the room and blue once you come closer.

Details

Hand-knotted with a shuttle in the ANKARS technique, developed on the base of classic tatting: the knots sit tighter and the lace holds its shape without any frame. The thread is matt black. The beads are night-blue faceted crystal with a metallic sheen, plus a central blue bead flecked with gold and mineral in character; all of them are woven into the knots, never glued. The hooks are silver leverback hooks with a snap closure. Every piece is one of a kind: hand-knotted, stitch by stitch, so no two come out exactly the same. They measure 6.5 cm long by 3.5 cm wide; weight 5 g the pair.

Care

Don't get them wet and keep them away from chlorine. Put on perfume and cream first, and store them lying flat in their pouch so the rosette doesn't open out.
