About this piece

The Golden Dune Earrings are a pair of long earrings in frivolité (tatting) lace worked in mustard-gold thread, with no beads. The motif is leafy and asymmetric: a branch of leaves and elongated rings stepping down one after another, with loose picots sticking out like new shoots. They aren't flat — the leaves are turned on different planes, so the piece takes on volume and changes with every movement. The tone is a muted gold, the colour of wet sand: warmer and less shiny than a classic gold.

Details

Tatting knotted by hand with a shuttle, leaf by leaf, in mustard-gold thread with a metallic strand running through it: that's what gives the lace its body and lets it hold its volume without any frame. This piece carries no beads — the whole drawing is thread and picots. The finding is a black French hook with a clear silicone stopper and a small dark bead above the knot. They're light and don't pull on the lobe. Every piece is one of a kind: hand-knotted, stitch by stitch, so no two come out exactly the same. They measure 6 cm long by 2 cm wide; weight 1 g the pair.

Care

Keep them away from water and heavy damp. Store them in their pouch with nothing stacked on top, so the leaves keep the curve they have.

Not identical: each piece is woven once, and that exact combination of thread, knot and stone is never repeated. We can weave one inspired by it, in your colours and with the stone you choose, as a custom order.
