About this piece

The Garnet Lace Earrings are a pair of gold frivolité (tatting) lace earrings with a paisley motif: at the top the weave opens into an openwork eye, and at the bottom it closes dense, sown with tiny cube crystals. Half of those crystals are garnet-coloured and the other half a deep violet-blue, and in the middle sits a larger faceted bead in champagne. It's baroque filigree made out of thread. They go with velvet, with red wine and with the part of the night when nobody is watching the clock any more.

Details

Tatting in the ANKARS technique, developed on the base of classic tatting: the weave is dense and grainy, and the drop keeps its shape. Gold metallic thread, cube faceted crystals in garnet colour and violet-blue, and a translucent champagne faceted bead at the centre. Everything is woven into the knots, nothing glued. Gold leverback hook. Every piece is one of a kind: hand-knotted, stitch by stitch, so no two come out exactly the same. They measure 4.5 cm long by 1.5 cm wide; weight 4 g the pair.

Care

Keep them away from water and damp, and take them off before sleeping. Perfume and cream, always first. They're stored in their pouch, resting flat, so the cluster of crystals doesn't snag.

How do I care for it?

Keep it dry: water, perfume, cream and chlorine loosen the thread and dull the colour. Clean it only with a dry, soft cloth, and store it flat in its pouch, apart from other pieces and away from humidity.

Can I order an identical one?

Not identical: each piece is woven once, and that exact combination of thread, knot and stone is never repeated. We can weave one inspired by it, in your colours and with the stone you choose, as a custom order.
