About this piece

The North Star Earrings are a pair of short earrings: a four-pointed star woven in silver frivolité (tatting), with light-blue faceted crystals at the centre and clusters of small milky-white beads at every point. Depending on how the light falls they read as a star or as a snowflake. They're compact, they sit close to the lobe and they ask for nothing else around them. They work just as well on an ordinary Tuesday as at a toast.

Details

Tatting in the ANKARS technique, developed on the base of classic tatting: the central diamond comes out structured and firm. Silver metallic thread, aquamarine-blue faceted crystals at the centre and semi-translucent white faceted beads at the tips, all woven into the knots and not glued. Silver leverback hook. Every piece is one of a kind: hand-knotted, stitch by stitch, so no two come out exactly the same. They measure 3.5 cm long by 2 cm wide; weight 5 g the pair.

Care

Don't get them wet and don't wear them in the pool. Perfume goes on first and on the skin, never on the lacework. Store them lying flat in the pouch so the points don't get crushed.

The body of the piece is woven thread rather than solid metal. The exact findings are confirmed over WhatsApp before purchase; if your skin is highly reactive, ask us and we will check.

How do I care for it?

Keep it dry: water, perfume, cream and chlorine loosen the thread and dull the colour. Clean it only with a dry, soft cloth, and store it flat in its pouch, apart from other pieces and away from humidity.

Can I order an identical one?

Not identical: each piece is woven once, and that exact combination of thread, knot and stone is never repeated. We can weave one inspired by it, in your colours and with the stone you choose, as a custom order.
