About this piece

The Dawn Flower Earrings are a pair of long earrings: five rosettes of gold frivolité (tatting) lace chained one below the other, each with a faceted bead at its heart. The colours alternate — translucent pink, bright clear, pink again — and the whole line looks like a sunrise growing lighter as it goes down. Even the hook is openwork, shaped like a teardrop. They sway a little as you walk, and that movement is faintly hypnotic.

Details

Tatting hand-knotted, stitch by stitch. Gold metallic thread and five faceted beads per earring set inside lace rosettes, alternating translucent pink and colourless clear, woven in and not glued. Gold leverback hook shaped as an openwork teardrop. The chain of rosettes is just flexible, with a soft fall and a light weight. Every piece is one of a kind: hand-knotted, stitch by stitch, so no two come out exactly the same. They measure 6.5 cm long by 1 cm wide; weight 4 g the pair.

Care

Keep them out of water: metallic thread would rather stay dry. Put on perfume and cream first, and the earrings afterwards. Store them stretched out in their pouch so the chain of rosettes isn't left bent.

Not identical: each piece is woven once, and that exact combination of thread, knot and stone is never repeated. We can weave one inspired by it, in your colours and with the stone you choose, as a custom order.
