About this piece

The Forest Berries Earrings (round) are a pair of medium earrings shaped like an openwork rosette: crossed loops of dark emerald frivolité (tatting) lace building a wild-rose flower. At the centre, a raspberry-fuchsia bead held tight inside its wrapping of knots; around the edge, four smaller lilac-pink beads, veined and translucent, spread between the loops. This is the disc version of the Forest Berries series: the same contrast of green and fruit, only compact and orderly.

Details

Tatting hand-knotted stitch by stitch, in an openwork disc of even structure. Dark emerald thread with a satin sheen, not metallic. One central raspberry-fuchsia bead and four veined lilac-pink beads around the rim, woven into the knots and not glued. Silver leverback hook. Every piece is one of a kind: hand-knotted, stitch by stitch, so no two come out exactly the same. They measure 4.5 cm long by 3 cm wide; weight 7 g the pair.

Care

Better without water: take them off before the shower or the sea. Perfume and cream, always first. They're stored in the pouch, resting flat and away from earrings whose hooks could catch in the openwork.

Keep it dry: water, perfume, cream and chlorine loosen the thread and dull the colour. Clean it only with a dry, soft cloth, and store it flat in its pouch, apart from other pieces and away from humidity.

Not identical: each piece is woven once, and that exact combination of thread, knot and stone is never repeated. We can weave one inspired by it, in your colours and with the stone you choose, as a custom order.
