About this piece

The Golden Horizon Earrings are a pair of earrings in silver-grey frivolité (tatting) lace with a band of gold thread crossing the motif from side to side, like a horizon line. Above and below that band sit four blue faceted crystals, one in each petal of the scalloped outline. The silver-and-gold contrast is unusual and it solves a practical problem: they work whether the rest of your jewellery is silver or gold. Round and short in the fall, they look neat with a shirt.

Details

Worked in tatting with the ANKARS technique, developed on the base of classic tatting: the tight knots hold the motif flat with no rigid base needed. Two metallic threads are combined, silver-grey and gold, worked into the same motif. The four blue faceted crystals are woven into the knots, not glued. Findings: silver leverback hooks. Light and easy to wear all day. Every piece is one of a kind: hand-knotted, stitch by stitch, so no two come out exactly the same. They measure 4.5 cm long by 2.8 cm wide; weight 3 g the pair.

Care

Keep them away from water, steam and chlorine. Apply perfume and cream before you put the earrings on. When you store them, leave them flat inside the pouch so the weave doesn't fold.

Keep it dry: water, perfume, cream and chlorine loosen the thread and dull the colour. Clean it only with a dry, soft cloth, and store it flat in its pouch, apart from other pieces and away from humidity.

Can I order an identical one?

Not identical: each piece is woven once, and that exact combination of thread, knot and stone is never repeated. We can weave one inspired by it, in your colours and with the stone you choose, as a custom order.
