Silver Rain Earrings

The Silver Rain Earrings are a pair of long earrings in silver frivolité (tatting) lace with not a single bead: here the thread does all the work. The motif comes down from a small ring, opens into an elongated teardrop and finishes in a fan of loops with a scalloped edge, like falling water. The metallic thread has a cold reflection, somewhere between silver and pale blue, that shifts with the light. Big in silhouette but quiet in colour, so they work equally with jeans and with a black dress.

Details

Worked in classic tatting, ring by ring with the shuttle, with picots building the wavy edge. The thread is silver metallic thread with a pale blue reflection, with no beads and no stones: the design is lace all the way through. The finding is a silver French hook with a silicone stopper. With no beads on them you barely feel them once they're on, and the lace is tougher than it looks. Every piece is one of a kind: hand-knotted, stitch by stitch, so no two come out exactly the same. They measure 5.5 cm long by 2 cm wide; weight 1 g the pair.

Care

Take them off before you get wet and don't store them damp. Perfume and cream first, earrings after. In the pouch, lying down and with no weight on top.
