Garnet Butterfly Earrings

The Garnet Butterfly Earrings are a pair of short earrings in gold frivolité (tatting) lace shaped like a butterfly. The four wings are outlined with garnet-coloured faceted crystals, denser on the upper wings and more sparing on the lower ones, and the gold thread is barely visible between one bead and the next. That deep bordeaux with the gold gives them an antique air, almost like something inherited. Being small and short in the fall, you can wear them every day without them being too much.

Details

Worked in tatting with the ANKARS technique, developed on the base of classic tatting: the tight knot is what holds the butterfly's silhouette. The thread is gold metallic thread and the beads are garnet-coloured faceted crystal, woven into the knots and not glued. Findings: gold leverback hook. Very light — they don't pull on the lobe even with the wings full of beads. Every piece is one of a kind: hand-knotted, stitch by stitch, so no two come out exactly the same. They measure 3.2 cm long by 1.5 cm wide; weight 4 g the pair.

Care

Keep them out of water and dry them with a soft cloth if they get damp. Apply cream and perfume before putting them on. Store them apart from other pieces so nothing snags the weave.
