Camino de Arena Necklace

Camino de Arena means sand path, and that is exactly what this is: a frivolité (tatting) lace choker worked in sand-coloured thread with wooden beads. The lace repeats pairs of openwork leaves the whole way around, and between them sit round caramel wood beads with the grain still showing, like fruit on a branch. It is the only piece in the series without a single crystal, which is why it feels warmer and more earthbound — perfect with linen, denim and earth tones.

Details

Hand-worked with a shuttle in tatting, in sand-coloured thread with a soft sheen and a faint ochre-gold glint. The beads are round caramel-coloured wood, set singly and in pairs the whole way along, knotted into the lace rather than glued. It sits right at the base of the neck in a single strand and fastens at the back with a small gold-toned metal clasp. The lace is light and the leaves keep their relief. Every piece is one of a kind: hand-knotted, stitch by stitch, so no two come out exactly alike. It measures 52 cm long by 2 cm wide; weight 9 g.

Care

Wood does not like water: keep it dry and take the necklace off before you shower. Store it flat in its case, away from perfume and cream.
