Reina de Hielo Necklace

The Reina de Hielo Necklace — ice queen — is a choker made of openwork frivolité (tatting) medallions chained one after another, all of them worked in silver metallic thread. Inside each medallion appear colourless faceted crystals and clear seed beads that throw the light back like frost on a windowpane. It is the most ornamental piece of this batch: it sits right at the throat and builds an evening look on its own.

Details

Each medallion is hand-knotted with a shuttle, stitch by stitch, in the tatting technique, in silver metallic thread; the picots around the outline give it that toothed edge that makes it read as lace. The colourless faceted crystals and the clear seed beads are woven into the knots, not glued on. It fastens at the back with a silver lobster clasp over a loop woven in the same thread. For all the volume of the drawing, the choker feels light to wear. Every piece is one of a kind: hand-knotted, stitch by stitch, so no two come out exactly alike. It measures 36.5 cm long by 1.5 cm wide; weight 5 g.

Care

Don't get it wet and never put it away damp. It is best kept stretched out in its case, away from perfume and cream, so the medallions keep their relief.
