Onda Marina Necklace

The Onda Marina Necklace — sea wave — is a choker in frivolité (tatting) lace worked in a silver thread with a pearled sheen, with turquoise-blue seed beads edging every ring. The rings chain in a zigzag, so the top edge and the bottom edge draw one continuous wave the whole way round the neck. The blue of the beads is opaque and shifts in intensity with the light, like water in mid-afternoon: perfect with linen, pale denim and anything with summer in it.

Details

Hand-worked with a shuttle in the tatting technique, in silver thread with a pearled sheen. The beads are round turquoise-blue seed beads, knotted into the weave two and three to a ring and never glued. It is worn right at the throat in a single strand and fastens at the back with a small gold-toned metal clasp that makes a warm contrast with the silver thread. Every piece is one of a kind: hand-knotted, stitch by stitch, so no two come out exactly alike. It measures 43.5 cm long by 1 cm wide; weight 9 g.

Care

Water and lace don't get on: take it off before the shower or the sea. Store it in its case, away from perfume and cream, lying flat so it doesn't lose its shape.
