About this piece

The Camino de Piedras Necklace (two rows) — the path of stones — is a frivolité (tatting) lace choker built from two parallel rows of identical rosettes, each one holding a round greenish-grey faceted stone. The rows are joined to each other, so from a step away you barely see the thread at all: what you see is an even cobbled path of smoky stones, every one with its own veining. It is the boldest piece in the shop, the one you reach for when the rest of the look is plain and dark.

Details

Each rosette is hand-knotted, stitch by stitch, in tatting, using warm champagne-silver metallic thread, and closes around a mineral-looking faceted stone in smoky greenish grey, semi-translucent. The stones are knotted into the lace, never glued. It is a closed choker that rests right at the base of the neck and fastens with a decorative rectangular box clasp in a silvery gold tone. For all the stone it carries, it feels light on. Every piece is one of a kind: hand-knotted, stitch by stitch, so no two come out exactly alike. It measures 43.5 cm long by 1.8 cm wide; weight 26 g.

Care

Keep it away from water, and put it on once your perfume and cream have dried. Store it flat and spread out in its case so the two rows do not tangle around each other.

Keep it dry: water, perfume, cream and chlorine loosen the thread and dull the colour. Clean it only with a dry, soft cloth, and store it flat in its pouch, apart from other pieces and away from humidity.

Can I order an identical one?

Not identical: each piece is woven once, and that exact combination of thread, knot and stone is never repeated. We can weave one inspired by it, in your colours and with the stone you choose, as a custom order.
