About this piece

The Camino de Piedras Necklace (one row) — the path of stones — is a silver frivolité (tatting) lace choker carrying a single line of greenish-grey faceted stones. Each round, flat stone is cradled by a ring of lace, and the links hook one beside the next with no gap between them: the result is an unbroken path of stone, like a tennis necklace, only woven. Worn, it settles into an even oval at the base of the neck and stays exactly where you put it.

Details

The links are hand-worked with a shuttle in tatting, in silver metallic thread, and repeat identically the whole way around. The stones are faceted and semi-translucent, mineral-looking in greenish grey, and they are held inside the knots, never glued. It sits right at the throat and closes with a hand-finished detail: a woven loop in the same thread and a small silver hook that slips into it. Every piece is one of a kind: hand-knotted, stitch by stitch, so no two come out exactly alike. It measures 43.5 cm long by 1 cm wide; weight 13 g.

Care

Do not get it wet and do not wear it in water. After each outing, let it rest flat in its case, away from perfume, cream and hairspray.

Keep it dry: water, perfume, cream and chlorine loosen the thread and dull the colour. Clean it only with a dry, soft cloth, and store it flat in its pouch, apart from other pieces and away from humidity.

Not identical: each piece is woven once, and that exact combination of thread, knot and stone is never repeated. We can weave one inspired by it, in your colours and with the stone you choose, as a custom order.
