The Encaje de Humo Necklace — smoke lace — is a wide choker in frivolité (tatting) lace worked in a greyish blue thread, without a single bead. Several rows of interlaced rings and arcs build a ribbon of pure openwork, its lower edge running in waves. Depending on the light the colour reads steel blue or smoke grey, which makes it easy to combine. It circles the throat like a length of antique lace ribbon: perfect over a boat neck, a plain top or a single-colour dress.
Details
Worked in classic tatting, by hand and stitch by stitch, with rings, arcs and joins building the wide band. The thread is greyish blue in a smoke tone, and the lace carries no beads and nothing applied. It fastens with a silver lobster clasp. It is delicate to look at, tougher than it seems, and you barely feel it once it is on. Every piece is one of a kind: hand-knotted, stitch by stitch, so no two come out exactly alike. It measures 40.7 cm long by 2.5 cm wide; weight 5 g.
Care
Keep it out of the water and never put it away damp. Put it on after the perfume and the cream, never before. When you take it off, leave it stretched out in its case, away from earrings or chains that could snag in the openwork.
