Frutos del Bosque Necklace

Frutos del Bosque means forest berries, and this is an open, garland-style necklace in emerald green frivolité (tatting) lace, with a dozen little three-leaf sprigs and one fuchsia bead beside each, like berries just picked. The twisted cord follows the curve of the neck and leaves the sprigs loose, with the tidy asymmetry of anything that actually grows. It is the most botanical piece in the series: as good on a linen dress as on a white shirt with jeans.

Details

Hand-tatted with a shuttle in emerald green thread with a silky sheen and no metallic thread at all, so the lace reads soft and textile. Every motif carries a round fuchsia bead with a glossy surface, knotted into the lace rather than glued. It fastens with a small silver hook onto the cord itself. Every piece is one of a kind: hand-knotted, stitch by stitch, so no two come out exactly alike. It measures 56 cm long by 2.5 cm wide; weight 11 g.

Care

Keep it away from water and damp. Store it in its case, clear of perfume and cream, and lay it flat so the garland keeps its drape.
