About this piece

The Jardín de Mariposas Necklace — butterfly garden — is a choker in silver frivolité (tatting) lace in which the rings group in pairs to build open wings, one butterfly after another. Inside each wing sit opaque beads in a strong light blue, a flat, luminous blue against the shine of the silver thread. The band is narrow and rests at the base of the neck with the drawing facing forward. It looks lovely with white, with denim or with any plain garment that lets it take the lead.

Details

Worked in tatting with the ANKARS technique, developed on the base of classic tatting: those firmer knots are what hold the wings open. The thread is silver metallic thread and the opaque light-blue beads are woven into the knots, not glued on. It fastens with a silver lobster clasp. Light and comfortable, for all the detail in the drawing. Every piece is one of a kind: hand-knotted, stitch by stitch, so no two come out exactly alike. It measures 42.5 cm long by 1.5 cm wide; weight 6 g.

Care

Keep it away from water and don't leave it in the bathroom. Put it on once the perfume and the cream have dried. Store it stretched out flat in its case so the wings don't get crushed.

How do I care for it?

Keep it dry: water, perfume, cream and chlorine loosen the thread and dull the colour. Clean it only with a dry, soft cloth, and store it flat in its pouch, apart from other pieces and away from humidity.

Can I order an identical one?

Not identical: each piece is woven once, and that exact combination of thread, knot and stone is never repeated. We can weave one inspired by it, in your colours and with the stone you choose, as a custom order.
