About this piece

The Jardín de Niebla Necklace — garden in the mist — is a closed choker in champagne-coloured frivolité (tatting) lace, built from identical medallions chained into one continuous garland. In each medallion, three woven arches form a dome over a greenish-grey faceted stone, with two or three tiny honey-coloured crystals at the sides. Resting on the collarbones it gives the effect of an antique lace collar, in a misted range of muted gold and grey: an autumn necklace, and an evening one.

Details

Tatting worked by hand, stitch by stitch, in champagne-gold metallic thread, which gives the medallions their faint glow and their body. The greenish-grey faceted stones are mineral-looking, each with its own pattern of inclusions; the honey-coloured faceted crystals are knotted into the lace, never glued. It fastens with a small, discreet dark silver clasp. Every piece is one of a kind: hand-knotted, stitch by stitch, so no two come out exactly alike. It measures 46.5 cm long by 2 cm wide; weight 14 g.

Care

Put your perfume and cream on before you put it on, and keep it dry. Store it flat inside its case so the medallions hold their shape.

How do I care for it?

Keep it dry: water, perfume, cream and chlorine loosen the thread and dull the colour. Clean it only with a dry, soft cloth, and store it flat in its pouch, apart from other pieces and away from humidity.

Can I order an identical one?

Not identical: each piece is woven once, and that exact combination of thread, knot and stone is never repeated. We can weave one inspired by it, in your colours and with the stone you choose, as a custom order.
