About this piece

Estrella Polar means pole star, and this is a link bracelet worked in a straight line, a medium-width band of repeating star-shaped clusters: in each diamond link, a round bright turquoise-blue bead sits ringed by tiny faceted beads in white-blue with an opaline flash. Lace bridges join the clusters and keep the openwork visible, and because the beads sit on both faces of the band, it has real relief and catches light from any angle. It is the most wintry piece of the lot: ice and water.

Details

Hand-worked in the ANKARS technique, developed from classic frivolité (tatting), in steel-grey metallic thread: firmer knots, elements with volume, and a band that keeps its shape. The transparent turquoise-blue beads and the faceted white-blue ones are knotted into the lace, never glued. It fastens with a silver hook that slips into a woven loop. Every piece is one of a kind: hand-knotted, stitch by stitch, so no two come out exactly alike. It measures 19 cm long by 1.7 cm wide; weight 14 g.

Care

Keep it dry and keep perfume and cream off the lace. Store it flat in its case so the bead clusters keep their relief.

How do I care for it?

Keep it dry: water, perfume, cream and chlorine loosen the thread and dull the colour. Clean it only with a dry, soft cloth, and store it flat in its pouch, apart from other pieces and away from humidity.

Can I order an identical one?

Not identical: each piece is woven once, and that exact combination of thread, knot and stone is never repeated. We can weave one inspired by it, in your colours and with the stone you choose, as a custom order.
